Timber Lakes/Shelton, WA House/Pet Sit
What started out to be a 3 week sit, has now been extended for two more weeks. I am quite okay with it.
It is beautiful here in the Northwest. This is the second time I have house sit in the Northwest. Aye it is spring and it is wet, no lack of rain even this is mid March.
The first weekend I ventured out, I went to Sequim (I need to go back) and Port Angeles. A beautiful drive and spectacular views.
Entering Port Angeles there sat some very huge ships in the Harbor and some further out.
I went to the  Arthur Feiro Marine life center on the city pier and looked around, I must admit I have never seen a live Star Fish or Sand Dollar, but I did this day. Sea Life is amazing and the colors spectacular and vibrant purples. This center was very knowledgeable and helpful. I learned that our government had recently acquired control of all the damns in the US and were planning to tear one down in the area.
I got lost traveling down Kitchen-Dick road, yeah I know a funny name for a road.  I was attempting to find the lavender farms in Sequim. Sequim (pronounced like swim on with a k sound) is said to be the Lavender Capital of North America. Had I pursued it further, instead of turning around I would not have to make another trip, before I leave. Winter hours are only open until 4:pm.
I traveled right through a Paper mill to access the what I would term a causeway, but they natives have a different name for it. Ediz Hook, it juts out like a causeway to create a harbor, and at the end of it is the United States Coast Guard  Air Station.
I found my way to the visitors center, this is where I found the name for those natural strips of land that jut out. The view was spectacular form Ediz Hook looking back at the harbor and Mount Olympia, with its snow caps.
Looking back at Port Angeles from Ediz Hook
I would learn from the server at the resturant I ate at that the rather large ship, an oil tanker in for repairs.Port Angeles, WA
As seen from the Smugglers Restaurant!
There are Ferry Landings between this ship and the Restaurant, one of the Ferry's will take you Victoria, BC, as you will see in the below picture. Barely detectable below are the Mountain range on Vancouver Island, BCLooking North to Victoria, BC Vancouver Island
I had some very good fried oysters at Smugglers and proceeded to the Paper Mill, I was informed that they manufactured mostly news print. Now that I understand, having known an Atlas Van Lines Moving Company, Merchants the Agent's Owner Operator. News print is used to pack items while moving a house.

Dungeness Spit (yes, another funny name for a jutting piece of land, was of interest as well. since my house sit has been extended by two weeks, I am hoping to make another trip there. paste in browser to see my house sitter profile with
